FIA Member Clubs from across the region will gather in the Philippines for the annual FIA Asia-Pacific Congress.
Dubai, UAE – September 23, 2026: FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has highlighted the importance of the Asia-Pacific region to the future of motor sport and mobility ahead of the FIA Asia-Pacific Congress, which will take place in Boracay, the Philippines.
Hosted by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the three-day congress will bring together around 120 delegates from FIA Member Clubs across Asia and the Pacific for discussions on collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing.
The programme will focus on priorities including road safety, sustainable and accessible mobility, innovation and increasing opportunities for participation in motor sport.
Focusing on Mobility and Motor Sport
Ben Sulayem said the Asia-Pacific region is central to the future of mobility and motor sport, with FIA Member Clubs playing an important role in addressing local and regional challenges.
The congress will give clubs an opportunity to share expertise and develop practical solutions for their members and communities.
Mobility discussions will cover road safety, sustainable transport, accessibility, tourism and the changing needs of road users. The programme will also build on the FIA’s work with clubs to support national and regional mobility initiatives.
In motor sport, sessions will examine ways to increase participation, strengthen grassroots competition and create more accessible pathways into the sport.
The congress will also showcase initiatives developed by FIA Member Clubs across the region, with successful programmes and solutions shared as potential models for wider adoption.
Augustus ‘Joe’ Ferreria, FIA Region II President and President of the Automobile Association Philippines, said bringing Member Clubs together in the Philippines would provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, identify shared challenges and develop solutions that can support clubs across the region.
Expanding Road Safety Initiatives
The congress follows several FIA initiatives across Asia-Pacific, including the expansion of the Safe Mobility 4 All & 4 Life programme into the region.
The programme supports FIA Member Clubs and authorities through training and practical tools focused on improving road safety. Other initiatives, including the FIA Innovation Challenge, continue to highlight solutions developed by Member Clubs that can be shared across the wider FIA network.
Asia-Pacific also remains active across different levels of motor sport, from grassroots competition and regional championships to FIA World Championships.
The region’s role in international competition will continue following the congress, with Malaysia set to host the Bahrain Grand Prix in the days after the event.
