FREELANDER will showcase its first strategic model, the FREELANDER 8, at the 2026 Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China, next week. The showcase follows the brand’s global launch in Abu Dhabi on September 29, 2026, where the UAE was confirmed as its first international market.
Hosted by Chery Auto at its global headquarters, the summit will bring together international users, media representatives and ecosystem partners under the theme “ECO-TECH FOR OUR FUTURE LIFE”. The event will highlight developments in green technology and ecosystem innovation as Chery continues its transformation into a global high-tech green ecosystem enterprise.
British Design Meets Intelligent Technology
FREELANDER combines British premium design with Chinese intelligent technology. The FREELANDER 8 reflects this approach through three core pillars: British Craftsmanship, Smart Confidence and All-Terrain Freedom.
Its exterior features a Castle-Style Body Design, Signature Interlocking Headlights and an Iconic Triangle Window. Inside, a First Row Commander Seat provides an elevated driving position, while the Surround View Gallery features a 46.3-inch 8K Mini LED far-side screen. The intelligent cockpit is powered by the Qualcomm SA8295P automotive-grade chip.
The vehicle comes standard with L2+ driver assistance, offering more than 30 assistance functions. It also features Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP), which supports automated parking and vehicle recall in compatible environments. Availability will depend on the market and system operating conditions, with driver supervision required.
Electrified Performance for Different Terrains
The FREELANDER 8 combines a 2.0T Dedicated Hybrid Engine with dual-motor all-wheel drive and dual-chamber air suspension. Its hybrid powertrain is designed to support electric driving in urban settings while providing the performance and range needed for longer journeys and challenging terrain.
The 34.12 kWh battery delivers an all-electric range of 110 km, while the total range reaches 886 km with a full fuel tank and fully charged battery. Both figures are measured on the combined cycle and apply to the Middle East model, with specifications varying by market and trim.
The vehicle also features the i-ATS Intelligent All-Terrain System, which offers nine driving modes, including Sand Mode, to help drivers adapt to different road and off-road conditions.
International Test Drives and Brand Experiences
During the summit, international media, content creators and dealer partners will participate in the FREELANDER 8’s first international test drive. The experience will include on-road and off-road routes, including wading sections. The vehicle will also be displayed at the event.
FREELANDER will host international guests at FREELANDER Nightfall, a British-themed brand evening in Wuhu. Guests will be welcomed by Mornine, an embodied AI humanoid robot developed under Chery International’s AiMOGA brand.
According to the company, more than 3,000 AiMOGA robots have been delivered across more than 60 countries and regions, reflecting Chery’s wider focus on artificial intelligence and robotics.
Building on Its UAE Launch
Following its Abu Dhabi debut, FREELANDER is strengthening its presence in the UAE through exclusive authorised distributors Al Tayer Motors and Premier Motors. The partnerships will support the brand’s introduction to local customers and its planned expansion across the Emirates.
The brand’s slogan, “Beyond the Legend”, reflects its ambition to carry its heritage forward through distinctive design and intelligent innovation. Further details about FREELANDER and its future plans are expected to be announced during the summit.
